The charity behind the famous “A dog is for life, not just for Christmas” slogan the Dogs Trust, has launched its own Christmas ad with a twist portraying its very important message one that simply says “dogs aren’t Christmas presents”.
Every year this and other animal charities have to take in dogs which have become unwanted Christmas presents.
In the advert we see Christmas presents being treated like dogs – someone taking a games console for a walk, throwing a ball for a hairdryer, trying to get a drone to sit and saying goodnight to a bottle of perfume.
Then the advert switches to show a woman trying to wrap a dog as a present before a voiceover explains that “Christmas presents aren’t dogs! And dogs aren’t Christmas presents. A dog is for life, not just for Christmas”.
Giving a puppy as a present is not a good idea when you are thinking about getting a dog this really needs to be a much thought about decision. Dogs are great, gorgeous and loveable but they are not an easy to manage gift, they are living breathing animals that need to be taken care of.
So please remember “A dog is for life, not just for Christmas”.
